Of Ravens and Arrows and Digital Sparrows

This tumblr will serve as a platform from which to share some of my heart, thoughts, reconsiderations, and memories. There will be things I'd like you to hear, see, or know because I think they're either terribly beautiful, or beautifully terrible. In addition, I'll be posting new songs, upcoming live performance dates, teasers from photography shoots, and other such artistic endeavors.

Elizabeth & the Catapult

Go away my lover, darling won’t you go
Leave me to my tower, leave me all alone
Go away my lover, cut these tethers free
Leave me to my island of pine and evergreen

Go away my lover, darling won’t you go
Leave me to my tower, leave me here alone
I’ll cast you from my kingdom; I’ll cast you from my throne
Go away my lover, stop bothering me so

I will give you back your letters and your precious golden rings
I will lay them on your pillow when you’re good and fast asleep
You can blame it one the devil; you can blame it on yourself
But please go away my lover
Please go find someone else

I had forgotten about this band.

Bo Jackson: Birth Control 101 For Idiots

“Soothing shower on the 15th floor; almost regretfully washed off the dirt and city-sweat of countless mini-adventures, a million angry taxi’s and two once-daunting bridges, looking out over the orange skyline. The buzz here is heavy and tangible; this place vibrates relentlessly. Perched in a loft bed, reviewing video and photographic evidence that today happened, visual and aural affirmation that my life is actually this rich. Making shy eyes across the levitating lanes of the 1.4 mile bike ride over the bridge to Manhattan, (glances were successfully stolen, but seriously…please wear a helmet…), and then back twice over in six hours. Taking pictures (in terrible lighting) on rooftops of train tracks and building tops; I had almost forgotten. Memories that are painful now, but beautiful regardless. I was reminded in these two days that I don’t want to forget.
Good friends in this city. Talented, loving people I get to be so proud of. Friends who remind me why I do what I do and am who I am. How desperately I have missed giving and receiving this love of identity as of late.
Some day depending on the outcome of some travel-related reconnaissance missions, this city might own me again. However, for a good while:

“Cheers to you, cheers to us, and cheers to Boston.” Summer 2010
